OVERVIEW
The Chevrolet SSR is powered by Chevrolet's LS2 engine, a modified 400-horsepower 5.7 liter V8, the same powerplant as the Pontiac GTO and Chevrolet Corvette. Although powerful, the heavy car is propelled from zero to sixty in only 7.7 seconds. It comes available with a six-speed Tremec manual transmission.

For 2005, the SSR's engine received upgrades that pushed horsepower to 400 for automatic transmission equipped vehicles and 4.5 horsepower for manual transmissions.
