The 1500 Hybrid engine option is available on 1500 extended-cab pickups with the 295 hp 5.3-liter V-8. Unlike other Hybrid cars the 1500 Hybrid's electric engine doesn't actually drive the car. The Hybrid engine allows the truck to start and stop its combustion engine in order to save energy when unneeded. This system allows for a mpg saving of 1-2 miles, in addition to allowing for a 120-volt power outlet for external power needs.
