The Chevrolet Uplander holds its own amongst stiff competition in passenger comfort and flexibility, not to mention the gizmos buyers increasingly expect in their minivans.

The Uplander comfortably seats up to seven passengers. There are two basic models, sharing the same 121.1-inch wheelbase, standard 3.5-liter overhead valve V6 engine, four-speed automatic transmission and 17-inch tires and wheels. All-wheel drive is optional. The Uplander LS is the entry level model and has the 201 hp (2WD) / 196 hp (AWD) 3.5-liter engine. The Uplander LT is more elaborately equipped trim. Either trim can also be equipped with a more powerful 240 hp 3.9-liter V6 optional engine. Safety features include front passenger side-impact airbags standard on the LT and optional on the LS. Front airbags, a one-year subscription to OnStar, and four-wheel anti-lock brakes come standard on all trims. There are optional side-impact airbags for the second row seats available.

For 2006, The Chevrolet Uplander dropped its base model, added a new more powerful engine option, and made side-impact airbags optional.

Buying a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Purchasing an older vehicle, such as the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, makes good financial sense. You're able to avoid the steep depreciation rates that occur with brand new vehicles. This essentially gives you the advantage of getting a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander for less money than when it was new. If the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander was properly maintained, you also have a good chance of steering clear of problems that would have developed when the car was new.

The amount you pay for an older car depends on various factors. One important element is where you buy the vehicle. You're likely to get a better deal if you buy it from a private party, as opposed to a dealer. On the other hand, a reputable dealer will normally have some kind of limited warranty, so you can drive away knowing that if the car breaks down right away, you'll be covered. Another factor that may affect price on a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander is whether it's "certified" by the manufacturer. A certified vehicle will cost more because warranty service is provided that normally doesn't come with a used car.

Another dynamic that will play into the purchase price is the resale value. A used vehicle with a high resale value will obviously cost you more. It is expected that the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander will have a good-fair resale value. This assumes that the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander is in good condition and has a reasonable number of miles.
