When a car shopper is looking at a 2006 Honda Civic EX, they are seeing a redesign including a new body style and a little more power, in a new generation of cars from this Japanese auto maker. The Civic EX provides more features than the other DX and LX trims.

The 2006 Civic EX ships with a 16-Valve SOHC i-VTEC engine that also ships standard on the DX and LX Civic. In the 2006 Civic, this engine gets an EPA estimated 30 miles per gallon in city and 38 mpg in highway driving with a 5-speed manual transmission is standard. A 5-speed automatic transmission is also available for an MPG of 30/40, a very impressive fuel economy that was not matched by the 2007 model.

Anti-lock brakes, six airbags and more standard safety features are on the 2006 Civic EX. The tire pressure monitoring system found in some newer models was not yet added to the 2006 line.

Among the trim packages available for the 2006 Civic, the EX introduces a lot more of what drivers want. Air conditioning, steering wheel mounted cruise and audio controls, power doors and full power windows are all standard (The basic DX model lacks factory A/C or audio). There's a 160-Watt AM/FM/XM Ready/CD audio system with 6 speakers, with MP3 capability and speed sensitive volume control. A satellite linked navigation system is available for this model. IF you're looking for a feature rich package for the Honda Civic from the 2006 model year, take a look at the EX package where it is available from your local used car dealership.
