2006 Honda Civic LX
With the 2006 Honda Civic LX, buyers get the classic engineering of this popular car in the first model year of a redesign that introduced some improvements for future Civic models. LX buyer also get more convenience and comfort than with the DX base model option.
The 2006 Civic LX ships with a 16-Valve SOHC i-VTEC engine that is the same as that in the DX and EX models, a 140 Horsepower (HP) block with an estimated 30 miles per gallon in city and 38 mpg in highway driving with the standard 5-speed manual transmission (for the next year's 2007 model, the fuel economy estimate goes down to 26/34). A 5-speed automatic transmission is also available for the 2006 LX, with a MPG estimate of 30/40.
Dual-stage dual-threshold front airbags, anti-lock brakes and Electronic Braking Distribution (EBD) provide safety for the 2006 LX. This package also comes with some of the amenities drivers want in a modern car. An air conditioning system comes standard in the LX (the relatively sparse DX does not ship with A/C, bit it's an optional add-on), as well as steering wheel mounted cruise control, power doors and full power windows, and a 160-Watt AM/FM/CD Audio System with 4 Speakers, MP3 capability and a speed sensitive volume control. (Steering wheel mounted audio comes in the EX trim).
