The Land Rover Range Rover Sport is Land Rover's mid-size, mid-level luxury SUV. Built on a smaller platform derived from the Land Rover LR3 but with a thoroughly reworked suspension and a unique but instantly recognizable body, the Sport is everything: spirited, sporty, agile, with a snazzy look.

Range Rover Sports are available in two versions, the HSE and the Supercharged. The HSE comes with a 300-horsepower, 4.4-liter V8. The Supercharged has a supercharged V8 4.2 liter engine and makes 390 horsepower. Both engines drive through a new six-speed CommandShift automatic (that's also fitted in the top-of-the-line Range Rover). Full-time four-wheel drive with a two-speed, shift-on-the-fly, electronic transfer case is standard, as is an electronically controlled, locking center differential.

The 2006, The Land Rover Range Rover has two new engines: 4.4-liter DOHC 32-valve V8; 4.2-liter DOHC 32-valve supercharged V8. It also has a new 6-speed automatic transmission with CommandShift.

Buying a 2006 Land Rover Range Rover Sport

Purchasing an older vehicle, such as the 2006 Land Rover Range Rover Sport, makes good financial sense. You're able to avoid the steep depreciation rates that occur with brand new vehicles. This essentially gives you the advantage of getting a 2006 Land Rover Range Rover Sport for less money than when it was new. If the 2006 Land Rover Range Rover Sport was properly maintained, you also have a good chance of steering clear of problems that would have developed when the car was new.

The amount you pay for an older car depends on various factors. One important element is where you buy the vehicle. You're likely to get a better deal if you buy it from a private party, as opposed to a dealer. On the other hand, a reputable dealer will normally have some kind of limited warranty, so you can drive away knowing that if the car breaks down right away, you'll be covered. Another factor that may affect price on a 2006 Land Rover Range Rover Sport is whether it's "certified" by the manufacturer. A certified vehicle will cost more because warranty service is provided that normally doesn't come with a used car.
