The Galant comes in four trim levels: DE and ES are powered by a 160-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and come standard with a four-speed automatic transmission. The LS and GTS feature a 230-horsepower, 3.8-liter V6. They also come with a four-speed automatic transmission, but with a Sportronic mode for semi-manual shifting. Standard features on all Galants include front and side-impact airbags; height-adjustable driver's seat; four-wheel disc brakes; rear-seat heater ducts; and electronic lock-out protection. The DE, ES and LS come with steel wheels and 215/60R16 all-season tires. For 2006, Mitsubishi has subtly updated the Galant's styling inside and out, upgraded its sound systems and added MP3 capability on all but the base model; and added some standard equipment to nearly every trim level.
