The Volvo S60 combines excellent performance and a great shape with outstanding safety features. It feels like a tight European sedan and does a good job of smoothing out rough roads.
Four models are available: S60 2.5T, S60 2.5T AWD, S60 T5, and S60R. The S60 2.4 has been deleted. Revisions for this year include reorganized options packages, newly designed wheels and a new exterior color. The 2.5T uses a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine rated at 208 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque stretching from 1500 to 4500 rpm. A five-speed automatic is standard, while a five-speed Geartronic automatic with Auto-stick is part of an option package. Safety and security features that come standard include frontal, side-impact and curtain airbags up front; head restraints for all five passengers; seats that move on impact to reduce whiplash injuries; an immobilizer and alarm; a Safe Approach and Home Safe Lighting System; anti-lock disc brakes with electronic brake-force distribution.
For 2006, the Volvo S60 receives a revised all-wheel-drive system for better performance, newly designed wheels and simplification of the options and packages.
Purchasing an older vehicle, such as the 2006 Volvo S60, makes good financial sense. You're able to avoid the steep depreciation rates that occur with brand new vehicles. This essentially gives you the advantage of getting a 2006 Volvo S60 for less money than when it was new. If the 2006 Volvo S60 was properly maintained, you also have a good chance of steering clear of problems that would have developed when the car was new.
The amount you pay for an older car depends on various factors. One important element is where you buy the vehicle. You're likely to get a better deal if you buy it from a private party, as opposed to a dealer. On the other hand, a reputable dealer will normally have some kind of limited warranty, so you can drive away knowing that if the car breaks down right away, you'll be covered. Another factor that may affect price on a 2006 Volvo S60 is whether it's "certified" by the manufacturer. A certified vehicle will cost more because warranty service is provided that normally doesn't come with a used car.
Another dynamic that will play into the purchase price is the resale value. A used vehicle with a high resale value will obviously cost you more. It is expected that the 2006 Volvo S60 will have a very good resale value. This assumes that the 2006 Volvo S60 is in good condition and has a reasonable number of miles.
