Introduction
The front-wheel drive 2008 Toyota Matrix is available in two trims: Matrix and XR. Both are powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 126 horsepower and a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Safety is enhanced by ordering optional side curtain and seat-mounted side-impact airbags. Optional Vehicle Stability Control, traction control and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution help the driver maintain control in an emergency. The 2008 Toyota Matrix is a carryover from 2007. It is redesigned for the 2009 model year.
