The Passat is offered as a four-door sedan or five-door wagon in four, new for 2008, trim levels: Turbo, Komfort, Lux, and VR6. It's available with a 200-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder or a 280-hp, 3.6-liter V-6. Only the Turbo trim levels can be ordered with a six-speed manual, all other trims are standard with a six-speed automatic transmission. VW's 4Motion all-wheel drive is also available in combination with the VR6 only. Safety features standard on all models include front airbags, seat-mounted side-impact airbags for driver and front passenger, side curtain airbags, four-wheel-disc brakes and ABS, speed-variable electromechanical steering, electronic stability control, tire-pressure monitor, and a security system.
For 2008, all trims benefit from a 12-way power driver seat, leather shift knob and steering wheel and sunshades being made standard.
