The 2014 Acura TSX is a vehicle that strikes a fine balance between sportiness and comfort. An appealing luxury car without a luxury car price tag, the TSX is sized between a compact and midsize. There's also a station wagon with nice styling and extra space.
What's New for 2014
With the exception of additional colors and minor trim changes, the TSX sedan carries over unchanged from 2013.
Choosing Your Acura TSX
The first choice buyers make is body style:
- Sedan
- Wagon
Most buyers opt for the four-cylinder engine, a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that produces 201 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy ratings are 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway with the six-speed manual or 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway with the five-speed automatic transmission. The wagon is available only with this engine and an automatic transmission.
A more powerful 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque is an option exclusive to the sedan. Expect 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.
Ever since its introduction a decade ago, the base price for a TSX has included almost every available feature. Leather upholstery, a moonroof and HID headlights are all standard, as is a 360-watt stereo system with satellite radio and seven speakers.
- Special-edition models spice things up with red-hued accents, suede seating and aluminum pedals.
- Those with the Technology Package gain an 8-inch screen that relays navigation, traffic and weather, a rearview camera and 10-speaker audio system with hard-disk drive to store music. In wagons, the package includes a power tailgate. V6 models, meanwhile, also get 18-inch alloy wheels and active sound control to tame interior noise.
The four-cylinder engine is light on torque, and this is more noticeable with the automatic transmission, but it's still powerful enough and the best bet in this top-value near-luxury sedan.
