Introduction
The BMW X6 is available in two trim levels: xDrive35i and xDrive50i. The xDrive35i is powered by a 300-hp 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, while the xDrive50i boasts BMW's first production turbocharged V8, generating 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. Both engines feature twin-turbo and direct fuel injection technologies, and are paired with a six-speed Sport automatic transmission with Steptronic manual shift mode and steering wheel paddles. Exclusive to the X6, BMW's Dynamic Performance Control is standard on both trims, distributing drive force between the rear wheels and enhancing its sporty handling characteristics. Additional standard features include electronic stability and traction control systems with rollover sensor, 19-inch alloy wheels with run-flat tires, power moonroof, automatic climate control, leather upholstery and six airbags. A voice-activated navigation system is standard on the xDrive50i (optional on the xDrive30i), and an available power liftgate opens to reveal a generous cargo area.All-new in 2008, the BMW X6 carries over into 2009 with minimal changes.
