The 2009 Chevy Malibu Hybrid is built on the same platform as the Saturn Aura Green Line, which also has a hybrid option. The hybrid Malibu uses a 36-volt electric motor/generator coupled with a 164-hp 2.4L Ecotec VVT four-cylinder engine and a four-speed transmission to provide seamless operation to drivers. Fuel consumption is reduced by using sophisticated controls and software to stop and start the engine in heavy traffic and to recharge the battery by regenerative braking. The nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery is covered by an eight year, 100,000 mile warranty. Standard safety features include front, side-impact, and side curtain airbags, stability control, and traction control.
The Chevy Malibu Hybrid features a hybrid drivetrain, an EPA rating of 24-mpg city and 32-mpg highway, and is a carryover for 2009.

Resale Value for the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid
When considering the purchase of a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid, it's important to keep in mind what the eventual resale value will be. This can be ascertained from looking at the selling price of prior year versions of the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid, if it's not a brand new model. Keep in mind that resale value is dependent on the condition of the automobile when it is sold, as well as optional equipment and the total number of miles accumulated.
