The Toyota Matrix combines the style and spirit of a sports car and the functionality of a small sport utility vehicle with the affordability of a compact sedan. For 2009, this popular 5-door hatchback has been completely redesigned, with sleeker styling, an enhanced interior, heightened performance and additional safety features.

The Toyota Matrix is available in three front-wheel drive trim levels (Base, S and XRS) and one all-wheel drive trim level (S). The 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine found in the Base trim produces 132 horsepower; all other trims are equipped with a 158 hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Available transmissions include a five-speed manual, four-speed automatic and a five-speed automatic with manual shift control. Every Matrix is outfitted with a comprehensive group of safety features, including front side-impact airbags, front and rear curtain airbags, front active head restraints and anti-lock disc brakes; Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), including traction control and brake assist, is standard on the XRS and optional on all other trims.

The all-new 2009 Matrix is Toyota's second generation of this dynamic Corolla-based hatchback.

Intelligence on the Upcoming Toyota Matrix Models Following a complete redesign in 2009, the 2010 Toyota Matrix carries over with minimal changes. New for this year, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with integrated traction control is now standard on all trim levels.

Resale Value for the 2009 Toyota Matrix
When considering the purchase of a new vehicle, it's important to keep in mind what the eventual resale value will be. It is expected that the 2009 Toyota Matrix will have a very good resale value. This assumes that after 3 to of 5 years of ownership the vehicle will be in good condition. Other factors include the optional equipment you choose and the total mileage on your vehicle.
