Toyota often-overlooked Venza doesn’t easily fall into any particular segment, with equal parts wagon and compact crossover and styling that can be called nothing if not unique. A single well-equipped trim level is available with either a 182-hp 2.7-liter inline 4-cylinder or Toyota’s venerable 268-hp 3.5-liter V6 that also sees duty in the Camry and several other models. Buyers can opt for front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive with either engine choice. All models come with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Inside the Venza seats 5 with optional leather in a tidy and well-executed interior space that can store 30.7 cubic feet of cargo with the rear seats in place or 70.1 cubic feet with them folded flat. Ordering the optional touchscreen navigation and infotainment system also brings an integrated backup camera and a 13-speaker JBL sound system with XM Satellite Radio and NavTraffic.
