Ford F-150 Overview

The F-150 still offers the XL, STX, XLT, FX4 and Lariat trims, but for 2011, the FX2 is available on the 4x2 models. In addition, the very well equipped and distinctive King Ranch, Platinum, Harley Davidson and Lariat Limited trims are being introduced for 2011. Four new engines are available and all engines are mated to a fuel efficient 6-speed automatic transmission equipped with a tow haul mode. Two powerful V6 engines are available and they consist of the 4-valve, DOHC aluminum block 302-hp 3.7-liter and the 365-hp 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that incorporates direct fuel injection and twin turbochargers to deliver considerable power and yet be very fuel efficient. The two V8 engines that are available include the 4-valve DOHC 360-hp 5.0-liter and the 2-valve SOHC 411-hp 6.2-liter and all four engines deliver impressive towing capabilities. Safety features include four-wheel ABS disc brakes, electronic traction and stability control, front and side airbags and the Safety Canopy side curtain airbags. The F-150 offers a 4x2 or a 4x4 drive system, three cab styles, three pickup box lengths and several useful individual options and option packages. Available Ford exclusive features include SYNC, MyKey, SecuriLock, SecuriCode, SelectShift, retractable pickup box side steps, a tailgate step, and a variety of innovative Ford Work Solution options.

For 2011, the new trims and the new engines headline the changes but beyond those, the F-150 comes standard with a more efficient electric power steering system and the standard equipment offers more standard features. The SVT Raptor comes standard with the 411-hp 6.2-liter V8 and also introduces a new 145-inch wheelbase SuperCrew Raptor.
