The S5 Coupe is built with a 354-hp 4.2-liter V8 engine, while a 333-hp 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine powers the Cabriolet; both feature FSI direct fuel injection. Transmission choices on the Coupe include a standard six-speed manual or optional six-speed automatic with Tiptronic, while Cabriolet models are outfitted exclusively with a seven-speed S tronic transmission, including manual gear selection and steering wheel paddle shifters. Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system is standard on both body styles, along with exclusive S5-specific features such as a sport-tuned suspension, 19-inch aluminum wheels, aluminum-optic exterior mirrors, front sport seats and brushed aluminum interior trim elements. An available Prestige package boasts adaptive headlights, MMI navigation plus, Bang & Olufsen premium sound, HD radio and Advanced Key passive entry/start. Standard safety features include six airbags, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist, electronic stability and traction control systems, and a tire pressure monitor; rear parking sensors, a blind spot monitor and adaptive cruise control with active braking guard are also available. The Audi S5 carries over with minimal changes for 2012. New standard equipment includes auto-dimming exterior mirrors and a driver's seat memory function, while adaptive headlights are now offered in content of the Prestige package.
