Two trim levels are available with the 2013 X6, including the xDrive35i and the xDrive50i. Both models come standard with all-wheel drive, and are ready to tackle adverse conditions and light off-road usage. The xDrive35i trim level is the base level and includes things like a 300-horsepower six-cylinder engine, leather interior, auto-dimming rearview mirror, Ash Wood Grain interior trim, and Dynamic Cruise Control. The xDrive50i is adds in a more powerful V-8 engine, navigation, and a small array of other luxury features to sweeten the pot for on-the-fence buyers.
In terms of competition, there is not much out there that can hang with the X6, but there are enough models to make things interesting. The X6’s closest competition comes from the Porsche Cayenne, which bases out with a 300-horsepower, V-6 engine that jets it to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds, leather seating and a 5,952-pound towing capacity. Next up is the 2013 Land Rover Range Rover Sport, which features a 5.0-liter V-8 engine with 375 horsepower, full-time AWD and leather interior. Third on the competition list is the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, which comes with a 6.4-liter V-8 engine with 470 horsepower, a 5.1-second sprint to 60 mph and standard AWD. The final competitor is the INFINITI FX, which features a 325-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 engine, a 6.2-second sprint to 60 mph and 24 mpg highway.
With all of this competition, the relative newcomer to the realm needs to bring something more to the table than the “BMW” name to draw in buyers.
