The Mercedes-Benz ML-Class also offers a clean diesel option, more space inside and a more prestigious badge, but is also more expensive and not as agile. The BMW X6 has coupe-like styling and aggressive handling characteristics but is even less practical and more expensive. The Volvo XC70 is less expensive, offers a powerful turbocharged engine and lots of space, but while it drives more like a car than crossovers, it's not up to par with the FX37. The Acura MDX drives well and has a standard third-row seat with competitive pricing, but isn't as luxurious or powerful.
The FX37 occupies a unique place in the marketplace because it's more of a car than a crossover and offers dynamic styling. It doesn't offer the same utility as many competitors, but it offers people who only need that occasional utility the chance to keep most of what makes a sport sedan so luxurious and fun to drive. If you need more versatility but don't want to sacrifice driving excitement, the FX37 is worth a drive.
