The INFINITI G37 Convertible represents an alternative to the traditional luxury European convertible. It tries to combine the power and performance of the G37 Coupe with the addition of a retractable hardtop roof to offer extra refinement and security compared to normal soft-top convertibles. What's more, the INFINITI comes with a long list of standard equipment. It's a stylish vehicle that should be on any list of someone looking at luxurious convertibles.
All G37 Convertibles get a 3.7-liter V6 engine good for 330 horsepower and mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. The base model gets standard features like a power roof, xenon headlamps, leather upholstery, heated and powered front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, 18-inch wheels, Bluetooth, keyless entry and start, backup camera and iPod interface. The Sport model adds 19-inch alloy wheels, along with stronger brakes and quicker steering as well as sport front seats, navigation system, cooled front seats, 13-speaker Bose audio system, rear parking sensors and Bluetooth streaming audio. A six-speed manual is also available on the Sport.
The BMW 3-series Convertible has a more luxurious interior and superior driving dynamics, but costs much more when similarly equipped. The Volvo C70 is better value with a more spacious trunk and back seat, but isn't as quick and has inferior in-car technology. The Audi A5 Convertible forgoes a folding hardtop, but has a well-insulated soft-top and available all-wheel drive. It's more expensive, though. The Lexus IS Convertible has a lower base price and nicer interior fit and finish, but the base V6 is much slower and it's less agile.
The G37 Convertible appeals to buyers who want something luxurious that also has good driving dynamics, without going for one of the obvious German brands. It isn't the last word on quality or space, but it's very well equipped. For someone who places style and performance high on their priority list, the INFINITI could be the right choice.
The base G37 Convertible comes with an excellent roster of standard features. Starting with the 3.7-liter V6 and seven-speed automatic, the base car gets 18-inch alloy wheels, power retractable hardtop roof, automatic xenon headlamps, fog lights, power folding heated mirrors, keyless entry and start, dual-zone adaptive automatic climate control, one-touch power windows, leather seats with power and heat settings for the front, aluminum trim, six-speaker audio system with satellite radio and iPod connection, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, trip computer and Bluetooth. The Premium Package adds adds a 13-speaker Bose audio system, cooled front seats, driver's memory settings for the seat, mirrors and climate control, power lumbar and steering wheel controls and rear parking sensors. The Navigation Package adds a touchscreen navigation system with satellite traffic and weather, as well as hard drive storage for music.
The Sport makes the convertible more aggressive and appealing for buyers who want a little less comfort and a sportier drive and styling. Standard are both the contents of the Premium Package and the Navigation System Package, as well as 19-inch alloy wheels, sport brakes, quicker steering, aluminum pedals, paddle shifters for the automatic transmission and a body kit. A six-speed manual is an option.
