The IPL G coupe is Infiniti's answer to special packages from Audi, BMW and Mercedes that adds a little more sportiness and performance to the standard G37 Coupe. While the IPL has the same engine, it's been tweaked for a little more power. Styling changes also make the IPL more distinctive than the typical Infiniti.
The rear-wheel drive IPL comes equipped much like a G37 coupe, except that a specially-tuned 3.7-liter V6 produces 348 horsepower -- 18 more than the standard car. It's mated to a six-speed manual transmission or seven-speed automatic transmission.
The IPL package includes special 19-inch alloy wheels, a lowered sport suspension and sport exhaust, front sport seats and special badges. Also standard are xenon headlamps, front fog lights, power windows and mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry and start, leather upholstery, eight-way powered and heated front seats, a touchscreen navigation system with hard drive music storage, Bluetooth, an 11-speaker Bose audio system with satellite radio, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and parking sensors.
While the G Coupe isn't the freshest face in the premium coupe arena, the IPL adds something special to a competent existing package. And while the exterior and performance changes aren't big, they're enough to set it apart from lesser G37s.
The IPL comes standard with a specially-tuned 348-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 mated to a six-speed manual transmission, or an extra-cost 7-speed automatic. Fast, with all-wheel drive and a beautiful interior, but can get very expensive very quickly
Strong engine and talented through the corners, but isn't well-equipped and a replacement is due soon
Explosive power and incredibly stylish, but some interior pieces feel cheap and styling causes visibility problems
Stylish, low starting price and offers reasonable room for a coupe, but lacks power compared to performance rivals and common options are bundled in expensive packages
