Infiniti has long flown under the radar in the luxury marketplace. The M37 is just one example of a well-designed vehicle that is often overlooked in favor of rivals from Lexus, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. And that's a shame because the M37 combines a powerful engine, high-quality construction and an attractive exterior in a sports sedan that is both eye-catching and fun to drive.
Under the M37's hood, a 3.7-liter V6 engine generates 330 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. A seven-speed automatic transmission has four shifting modes -- Standard, Sport, Eco and Snow -- for fully optimized performance or economy. Rear-wheel drive is standard; all-wheel drive is an available upgrade.
Like many sports sedans, the M37 features a classy interior with top-of-the-line materials. The cabin design is dynamic, attractive and features curvacious lines that complement the exterior. Technology is not forgotten, and the M37 includes the latest entertainment and safety features. In particular, the audio controls and display interface are among the best on the market.
The M37's engine purrs and provides quick acceleration, especially when the transmission is set to Sport mode. On the road the M37 handles like a dream -- its steering is effortless and crisp. An optional Sport Package adds upgrades like a firmer suspension and larger wheels, but in many ways the standard configuration is a better drive and far less stiff.
While the M37 does many things well, it doesn't necessarily outperform the competition. Rather, it competes extremely well in a tough market, and one that's gotten tougher as the M37 gets more expensive.
Standard features on the M37 include: a sunroof; fog lights; power-folding and heated auto-dimming mirrors; automatic headlights; 18-inch alloy wheels; automatic wipers; keyless entry and ignition; leather upholstery; heated eight-way power front seats with power lumbar; driver seat memory; dual-zone automatic climate control; Bluetooth; a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel; and a six-speaker audio system with a CD player, auxiliary input jack, iPod input and satellite radio.
An optional Premium Package adds: rear parking sensors; a navigation system with real-time traffic, weather updates, voice recognition; cooled front seats; a heated steering wheel; and a 10 speaker Bose audio system with digital music storage.
A few options groups can be added to the Premium Package. A Deluxe Touring Package, for instance, includes: an air purifier; upgraded leather upholstery; a power rear sunshade; and a 16 speaker Bose audio system. A Technology Package adds: adaptive cruise control; a blind-spot warning system; a lane departure system; forward collision warning; adaptive headlights; and a eco pedal which gives updates on fuel economy.
