Despite the decreasing market for full-size cargo vans, Nissan entered the market with the NV in 2012. The lineup includes typical 1500, 2500 and 3500 models, as well as cargo and passenger configurations. The sturdiest of the work-oriented vans is the Cargo NV3500.
With only a single model year under its belt, the NV3500 essentially carries over from 2012. A pair of trim levels—S V8 and SV V8—both feature a 5.6-liter V8 engine that pounds out 317 horsepower and 385 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission delivers power to the rear wheels. There is no diesel option.
The base trim for the 2013 Nissan Cargo NV3500 is the S V8, which comes standard with: four-wheel disc brakes; a 3.54-to-1 rear-axle ratio; 17-inch steel wheels; a standard-height roof; black grille, door handles, side-view mirrors and bumpers; a sliding door on the passenger side; air conditioning; six floor-mounted D-rings in the cargo hull; a tilt steering column; variable intermittent wipers; driver’s side under-seat storage; a pair of 12-volt power outlets; gray, water-repellent cloth seating; four-way, manual-adjusting seats; and an AM/FM/CD audio system with an auxiliary input jack and two speakers.
The SV V8 trim level features: four-wheel antilock disc brakes; 17-inch wheels; a standard-height roof; black door handles and side-view mirrors; chrome grille and bumpers; power side-view mirrors; a sliding door on the passenger side; rear parking sensors with sonar; air conditioning; six floor-mounted D-rings in the cargo area; three cargo-area lights; a cargo area floor protector; power windows and door locks with keyless entry; cruise control with steering-wheel-mounted controls; tilt steering; variable intermittent wipers; two 120-volt and two 12-volt power outlets; driver’s side under-seat storage area; gray cloth seating; an eight-way power driver’s seat; and an AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with auxiliary-in input, steering-wheel-mounted controls and four speakers.
