What you must know before buying the BMW 320
, Automotive Editor -
  • 2015 320s are in, 2014s almost gone
  • Low 3.12% APR rate for up to 72 months
  • No cash incentive
  • Leases now start at $309 per month

The ground floor of the 3s:

The 320i gets you in the door to BMW 3-series ownership, with generally the same looks as the other 3-series sedans. Only the badge and the 60-horsepower drop compared to a more expensive 328i really gives it away. But there's a large cost savings in picking the 320i, which is fast enough anyway.

No cash deal:

The 3.12-percent APR for up to 72 months is the sole purchasing incentive on the 320 cars this month, as is the case with many BMWs. Last month's Holiday Credit is gone.

Leases rise:

The lease deal has worsened now that there isn't any cash. A 320i goes for $309 per month for 39 months with $3,784 due at signing. Add $20 per month for xDrive. This is $40 per month more than in December. BMW, however, extends a branch to current customers to pull their lease ahead if they want to get a new BMW.

The smart way into BMW ownership:

This is probably BMW's best buy right now. Unlike the cost-cutting X1 crossover, this is an iconic BMW style with just the right amount of equipment for a great price -- or a great lease payment if that's the way you want to go.
