The 7 Series is BMW’s flagship line of sedans, and the 750 model includes nearly every comfort and convenience available. Many of these features come standard, but there are still numerous ways to personalize your new luxury sedan.

What's New for 2014

Changes to the BMW 750 for the 2014 model year are relatively minor. Both the navigation and optional rear-seat entertainment systems now operate with a new touchpad controller and the keyless entry system, which previously included a trunk-opening feature that operated with a swipe of a foot under the bumper, has added the capability to close the trunk by the same method. The Dynamic Digital Instrument Cluster that customizes the instrument panel according to which Driving Dynamics Control mode is selected is now standard equipment as is a Harman Kardon surround-sound audio system. Finally, an 18-inch wheel, borrowed from the 740 sedan, is now available at no additional cost.

Choosing Your BMW 750

Right off the bat, you need to decide how long you want your 750 to be.

  • The regular length is about 16 feet 8 inches long with a wheelbase of approximately 10 feet. Rear leg room comes in at just under 39 inches.
  • The long wheelbase 750, designated as 750L, adds 5.5 inches to the wheelbase and the car’s overall length. Not surprisingly, rear-seat leg room gains about the same amount, too.

Your second decision will probably be whether to operate your 750 with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, designated as xDrive by BMW. Both modes are available in both wheelbase lengths.

A single engine powers all the 750 models, so there’s no choice here. This 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 produces 445 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. The eight-speed automatic transmission is equipped with both automatic and manual modes.

Exterior color choices include 11 metallic and two non-metallic finishes. However, the carbon black metallic is only available if you also choose the M Sport Package. Additionally, BMW offers four Individual color options.

Standard interior selections include five Nappa leather options and five trim choices. An upgrade to the Individual Composition package gives you six Merino leather upholstery options along with three upgraded interior trims.

A number of option packages bundle available features together to help you select the best combinations:

  • The Executive package includes convenience and comfort features such as power sunshades and ventilated front seats.
  • The Cold Weather group adds heating to the rear seats and the steering wheel, and throws in a ski bag as well.
  • Upgrades to upholstery and interior trim come in the Individual Composition package. Also included is a choice in wheels.
  • With the M Sport package you get paddle shifters, an exterior aerodynamic kit, a choice of wheels, and an M steering wheel.
  • Several automatic safety systems, such as blind-spot and lane-departure warnings, are bundled into the Driver Assistance package.
  • To keep your passengers happy, the Rear Entertainment package adds twin screens and a six-disc DVD changer, all controlled with the new iDrive touchpad controller.

The Luxury Rear Seating with ventilated seats and a massaging feature is available only for long wheelbase 750s.

Among the limited list of single options are:

  • A roll-stabilization suspension control system
  • Night vision with pedestrian detection
  • A Bang & Olufsen 16-speaker sound system as an upgrade from the standard Harman Kardon system

CarsDirect Tip

The option packages for the 750 are fairly well divided into bundles focused on appearance, technology or comfort/convenience features. If one of those areas is more important to you, choose those extras first and then look at your remaining budget.
