The Jaguar XK is one of the most luxurious grand-touring coupes on the market, with British old world charm and ample performance plus a sleek, classic Jaguar design. Not content with merely 'ample' in the performance department, Jaguar will soon release a limited-production track-tuned XK variant that's also street-legal: the 2014 Jaguar XKR-S GT.
With just 25 units bound for the United States, each carrying a base price of $174,000, the XKR-S GT will be the most exclusive of modern Jags. Power from Jaguar's supercharged 5.0-liter V8 stands pat with the cheaper and slightly less-extreme XKR-S, at 550 horsepower and 502 lb-ft. of torque, but Jaguar has pulled out all the stops to increase performance in every other area.
That means a completely revamped suspension system with height-adjustable active dampers, and spring rates that have been stiffened 68% up front and 25% in the rear. You'll also find upgraded carbon-ceramic brakes and 20-inch lightweight wheels with a brand new design, coming wrapped in 255/35-series front and 305/30-series rear Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.
As for the exterior, upgrades include a louvered hood for better cooling, a new front diffuser with carbon-fiber dive planes that call to mind the Nissan GT-R, and a towering rear spoiler that completes the race-Jag look nicely.
