The Sportage advances Kia’s brand to the next level with an array of design enhancements as well as a host of comfort and convenience features. Building upon an award-winning platform, the Sportage now offers a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine in LX and EX trims, and a 2-liter turbocharged four in the SX trim for enhanced efficiency. Kia’s longest running nameplate has also reduced NVH—short for "noise vibration and harshness") with standard high performance dampers.

What's New for 2014

The Kia Sportage has a new grille and updated wheel designs. You will also find HID headlights and an improved Infinity premium stereo system. A new navigation system is now compatible with Kia’s UVO eServices.

Choosing Your Kia Sportage

All Sportage models feature a six-speed automatic transmission, and may be ordered with optional all-wheel drive. Three trim levels determine standard features, and which of two engines a Sportage will have:

The new 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine debuts on the base LX with 182 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The vehicle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and offers standard air conditioning, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, and a satellite radio. The option list is short and includes items such as HID headlights and Kia’s UVO eService’s entertainment system. Many features are not available on the LX trim.

The EX is significantly more expensive than the LX, but comes loaded with features like 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, dual-zone automatic climate control, a rearview camera, heated seats, a power driver’s seat, an Infinity Premium stereo, and the UVO eService’s entertainment system. The option list is short with choices such as leather seating, navigation, and a panoramic sunroof.

The SX is both the sportiest and best-equipped of the Sportage family. It comes with a standard turbocharged 2- liter four-cylinder engine delivering a hearty 260 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Standard features include HID headlights, a rear spoiler, rear LED taillights and dual exhaust. As on the EX, optional equipment includes navigation, leather seating and a panoramic sunroof.

CarsDirect Tip

Even for those on a tighter budget, we think the EX is a much better value than the base LX. Our pick, though, is the SX, which serves up genuine performance for a top-of-the-line price that's still in the mid-$20,000s.
