With a base price that starts under $30,000 and front-wheel drive, the CLA250 is unlike any other Mercedes-Benz sold in the United States. It also sets itself apart from rivals like the Acura ILX and Audi A3 with the upscale styling of a four-door coupe.
Mercedes-Benz isn't known for generous standard features, and the CLA250 offers few no-cost extras. Major options include a Sport Appearance Package with 18-inch wheels and AMG-designed bumpers; leather upholstery; a panoramic sunroof; and a variety of driver assists.
The compact sedan's turbocharged 2-liter four-cylinder engine produces 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The sole transmission is an automated seven-speed dual clutch According to Mercedes-Benz, a CLA250 reaches 60 mph in 6.9 seconds, and the EPA estimates fuel economy of 26 mpg city and 38 mpg highway.
The front-wheel drive CLA250 will be joined by an all-wheel drive CLA250 4MATIC early in 2014.
