3/4 Front Glamour 2014 Mercedes-Benz E250 BlueTEC

CarsDirect Pricing Insider

What you must know before buying the Mercedes-Benz E250 BlueTEC
, Automotive Editor -
  • No changes for August 2014
  • New E-Class model for 2014
  • Diesel engines are still not a favorite of American buyers
  • Expect lower stock
  • Manufacturer-to-dealer incentives may help lower price

New diesel power for 2014:

The E250 BluTEC is an all-new, diesel-powered version of the E-Class for 2014. Despite its 45-mpg rating, this diesel option is still marred by the stigma of these engines sounding like school buses and semi trucks. This viewpoint is starting to change, but it is still present.

Lower stock may impact price:

Because diesel-powered luxury cars are still in low demand and dealers keep limited supply, you may find it difficult to find the right E250 BluTEC at the right price for now.

Manufacturer-to-dealer incentives will help:

Expect to see continued manufacturer-to-dealer incentives passed onto you to help lower the bottom line of the E250 BluTEC.

No lease or financing options for now:

Because diesel power it still a narrow niche, Mercedes has no need to offer great financing or leasing deals. With BMW and Audi now on the diesel-power kick with the 535d and A6 3.0 TDI, respectively, expect these deals to start rolling out later in the year to draw buyers in from the competition. This lack of deals continues through August 2014.
