3/4 Front Glamour 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 BlueTEC

CarsDirect Pricing Insider

What you must know before buying the Mercedes-Benz GLK250 BlueTEC
, Automotive Editor -
  • New model with still-exotic diesel technology
  • Slow seller, but expect increases in sales
  • Expect lower stock
  • No deals as Mercedes-Benz feels out the market

Everything stays the same:

Demand for diesel-powered cars and SUVs remains low, and the GL250 BlueTEC is no exception. Because of low demand and supply, Mercedes has kept all the pricing details unchanged heading into September 2014.

Diesel technology growing in the U.S.:

The GLK250 BlueTEC was the first midsize, luxury SUV in the market. This technology is still in its infancy in the U.S., as we get used to the concept of diesel-powered vehicles not driving like a school bus. This will result in slower sales at first, but look for things to pick up as the year goes on.

May be tough to find on dealer lots:

Expect to have some difficulty finding the GLK250 BluTEC on dealer lots, thanks to buyer uncertainty in diesel-powered vehicles.

No deals yet:

With Mercedes-Benz initially being the only manufacturer offering a midsize, diesel, luxury SUV, there was no reason for it to offer up loads of financing deals and special leases. Now with the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 getting diesel variants, expect this to change soon. This trend of leaving the GLK250 BluTEC without financing and lease deals continues through August 2014.

Manufacturer-to-dealer incentives may help out:

Expect Mercedes Benz to offer dealers some incentives to get the 2014 GLK250 BluTEC into buyers' driveways. You can use these incentives to negotiate yourself a below-MSRP deal.
