What you must know before buying the MINI Convertible
Kimberly Smith, Automotive Editor -
  • MINI Convertible is selling below MSRP; cash rebates are available on 2015 models
  • Limited in-stock selection
  • Low 0.9% APR financing and promotional lease offers starting at $269/month with up to $1,250 in available credits
  • Additional credits of $500 to $1,000 for USAA, new and upcoming college graduates, and DriversEd.com graduates

Great time to buy:

While 2014 and 2015 models are both selling for less than MSRP, this is an opportune time to step into a new 2015 if you can find one in stock because the cash rebates that are available on 2015 models make these better deals than the 2014s. Rebate amounts are $500 for 2015 Cooper models, $750 for 2015 Cooper S models, and $1,000 for 2015 John Cooper Works models. These rebates do not apply to special factory orders and cannot be used in conjunction with the promotional financing and lease offers listed below.

Low inventory:

Dealerships keep few of these cars in stock. Those that are available are most likely to be 2015 models, which works out if you're interested in that rebate.

It pays to lease:

Special financing rates for 2015 models start as low as 0.9% APR for up to 60 months and include no payments for up to 90 days. For well-qualified customers, extended 72-month terms may also be available.

Promotional lease offers on 2015 models come with upgraded 40-month/40,000-mile Boot to Bonnet No Cost Maintenance, as well as a Dealer Contribution credit of $250 for 2015 Cooper models or $500 for 2015 Cooper S models. Rates start at $269 per month for 40 months with $3,264 due at signing for the 2015 Cooper, and $289 per month for 40 months with $3,434 due at signing for the 2015 Cooper S.

"MINI You-ification" credits are also available to offset MSRP for extra options and accessories when you finance or lease a 2015 model through MINI Financial Services. These include a $500 credit for Cooper models, $750 for Cooper S models, and $1,000 for John Cooper Works models.

Combine offers for maximum savings:

A $500 bonus credit is available for upcoming and recent college graduates who finance or lease a new 2014 or 2015 model through MINI Financial Services. DriversEd.com graduates can also receive a $500 credit on the purchase or lease of a new 2014 or 2015; whereas, eligible USAA members can receive $1,000 off with proper documentation. Certain offers may be combined.
