What you must know before buying the Nissan Maxima
Kimberly Smith, Automotive Editor -
  • The new 2016 Nissan Maxima is here; 2014 models are eligible for $3,500 cash back
  • Finance: 0% APR for up to 72 months + $500 finance bonus on 2014 models
  • Lease: $289/month for 36 months w/ $2,999 due at signing
  • New 2016s are starting to trickle in; 2014s are almost gone

Incentives continue on 2014 models:

The brand new, redesigned 2016 models are arriving in five trim levels, starting at $32,410 MSRP (not including destination charges) for the 2016 3.5 S, which is $1,120 more than the starting MSRP for the base 2014 model. Improvements include a navigation system that is now standard on all trims and a lighter body style that offers better mileage (averaging 30 miles/gallon on the highway).

Outgoing 2014 models are selling for thousands less than MSRP and still qualify for a $3,500 cash rebate, all of which adds up to significant savings. Although larger rebates have been offered in the past, this remains a great time to buy because the continuing sales slump and introduction of the new redesigned model means dealers are extremely motivated to move these stocks.

Choose your offer:

Nissan's generous offer of 0% APR financing for up to 72 months on 2014 models continues and, once again, comes with $500 in NMAC Cash. Unfortunately, this offer cannot be combined with the cash rebate mentioned above. Alternatively, you can opt for the standard APR and receive both the $500 finance bonus and the $3,500 cash rebate, for a total savings of $4,000 on a 2014 model.

Special financing rates for 2016 models were added for the first time this month at 2.29% APR for up to 60 months.

Aggressive lease offers continue:

Lease a 2014 Maxima S for $289 per month for 36 months with $2,999 due at signing. This offer includes a mileage allowance of 12,000 miles per year. It cannot be combined with the cash rebate, either, but it does include a $1,875 manufacturer's rebate that's already been factored into the price.

Limited availability:

Maximas are typically stocked in small numbers. New 2016 models are just starting to arrive and should become easier to locate in coming months. 2014 models are close to selling out. SV models for both model years are generally the easiest to find in stock.
