Choosing Your Toyota Avalon Hybrid
The Avalon Hybrid’s claim to fame is, of course, its stunning efficiency for its class: 40 mpg in combined city and highway driving. No other large sedan comes close. The credit goes to its gas-electric engine setup: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an electric motor that together produce 200 horsepower. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) does the shifting.
As with most hybrids, the Avalon Hybrid starts out with a higher level of equipment than the regular gas model. Each trim level is thoroughly equipped, so individual options are few.
