CarsDirect Pricing Insider

What you must know before buying the Toyota Land Cruiser
, Automotive Editor -
  • Strong-selling model despite its high base price
  • Special APR and cash back deals just aren’t available
  • Buying with CarsDirect saves more than $5,000
  • Leasing a Land Cruiser doesn’t make much financial sense

No advertised incentives, but pricing negotiable:

The legendary Land Cruiser is a hardcore SUV and despite it's shortcomings (fuel economy, price) it still sells extremely well relative to the amount produced thanks to its cult-like following. Although dealers are showing significant discounts off MSRP, current special offers are limited to two free years of Toyota Care scheduled maintenance and roadside assistance.

Note that special APR or cash back offers just aren’t offered on this model, period. Military members can, however, find $500 in customer cash back. Don’t wait around for a special offer, as now is as good a time to buy as any. Buying with CarsDirect will save you $5,545 off MSRP with new lower everyday pricing.

Compare with the similar-priced Lexus LX:

Did you know Toyota makes an even more luxurious version of its venerable Land Cruiser in the form of the capable Lexus LX 570? The two vehicles share a platform and powertrain, but the Lexus comes with badge cachet and extra creature comforts. Current special pricing at CarsDirect actually finds the Lexus variant priced slightly lower(!), so cross-shop the two before making a purchase.

Buying a better option than leasing:

While Toyota doesn’t currently advertise any special lease offers on the Land Cruiser, individual dealers are serving up rates of around $999 per month for 36 months with $5,999 due at lease signing. Although a high residual value allows Toyota to offer the Land Cruiser at reasonable lease rates, even those who tend to upgrade every few years will be better off buying the vehicle outright for a high sale/trade-in price down the road.
