The 2015 Acura TLX is the next-generation midsize sedan based on the best-selling Honda Accord chassis. The new naming nomenclature includes an “X” to the end of the prior generation’s TL alphanumeric naming convention, joining the ILX, TSX, RDX, MDX and RLX. That means that the next-generation TSX will not be developed—if you want a smaller and sportier midsize sedan, the 2014 TSX will be your last chance.
The new TLX’s biggest change, besides its chassis, will be its powertrain. The TL will offer two different engine combinations: a 3.5L V6 which will produce 280 horsepower and a beefier 3.7L V6 which will produce 320 horsepower. The smaller 3.5L engine will only be available with FWD, while the larger 3.7L engine will be offered with Acura’s SH-AWD system to electronically distribute the power and torque to all four wheels.
The 2015 Acura TLX will be priced at or around $34,995 to start and will be released early in 2014.
