It’s been awhile. Eighteen years in all, but Alfa-Romeo will be making it’s re-debut with their shiny new 2015 Giulia. It looks kinda like a Mazda RX-9. That’s because Mazda is building it. The Giulia, which replaces the 159, was initially going to be a FWD sedan, but changes were made in favor of a more driver-centric RWD layout, delaying launch. We think Alfa-Romeo made the right decision. The Giulia aims to go toe-to-toe with the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4 and needs to be RWD.
Will it? Time will tell, but here is what we do know so far. The sedan will use a small-displacement V6 turbo, with around 296 horsepower or the existing 1750TBi 1.8L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine (pictured above) which will produce around 200 horsepower. The price will be around $30k. And the release date will be Summer of 2014. Things are heating up, and if you’re in the market for an entry-level luxury sedan, you might want to wait.
