A product of the performance specialists at BMW's M division, the M6 Gran Coupe serves up blistering performance along with plush accommodations for four. It's a big, elegant four-door with the kind of dramatic styling usually reserved for exotic coupes.
What's new for 2015
The M6 Gran Coupe continues with minimal changes.
Choosing Your BMW M6 Gran Coupe
The Gran Coupe gets its performance from a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 that packs 560 horsepower. A seven-speed automated manual transmission is part of the package, but you can opt for a conventional six-speed manual at no cost. Various driving modes optimize the car's performance to your needs, whether you're cruising the highway or tackling unforgiving curves.
To complement its potential ahleticism, the M6 Gran Coupe comes standard with everything you'd expect, plus some amenities you didn't know you needed like automatic soft-close doors, four-zone climate control and a 3-year subscription to BMW's concierge services.
The appropriately named Competition Package adds even more aggressive suspension tuning, lightweight wheels and a less restrictive exhaust system for 15 extra horsepower. For enhanced interior comfort, there's the Executive Package with massaging front seats, a power sunshade, and heat for the rear seats and steering wheel. Finally, the Driver Assistance Plus Package adds advanced safety technology like a surround-view camera system, blind-spot monitoring and a collision mitigation system with pedestrian detection.
As usual, you have a choice of alternative wheel designs, trim materials and interior finishes. Among the handful of individual options are carbon-ceramic brakes, a premium Bang & Olufsen sound system and a night vision system.
Virtually all drivers will find the safety-oriented Driver Assistance Plus Package to be a useful addition to the Gran Coupe, and the Executive Package will be appreciated if you intend to take long trips. The Competition Package is for those of us willing to test the limits of the Gran Coupe's performance, so only dedicated driving enthusiasts need apply.
