Year in and year out, the GMC Sierra is one of the top performers in the pickup truck segment, particularly its 1500 version. For those who need something a little heavier-duty but don't want the full-on 3500HD model, GMC also offers a Sierra 2500HD.
What's New for 2015
For 2015, the Sierra 2500HD is fully redesigned to match the styling of the Sierra 1500. With this redesign came an all-new look inside and out.
Choosing Your Sierra 2500HD
First and foremost, the 2015 Sierra 2500HD is a work truck, so GMC offers it in a variety of body styles to fit different jobs. The body options include a regular cab with an eight-foot bed and a double cab or crew cab with a six-foot, six-inch or eight-foot bed.
Bed and cab configurations aren't the only decisions you need to make, as the 2015 Sierra 3500HD has a range of drivetrains to choose from too. Standard in the Sierra 2500HD is a 6-liter Vortec V8 that produces 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, rear-wheel drive, and a six-speed automatic transmission. If you need more oomph, opt for four-wheel drive, a Duramax 6.6-liter V8 turbo-diesel that produces 397 horsepower and 765 pound-feet of torque, oran Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission available.
After checking off all of the boxes for body configurations and drivetrains, you have four trim levels to choose from:
CarsDirect Tip
If the Denali package seems right for you, try out a fully loaded SLT model before making a purchase, as a fully-loaded SLT gives you all of the main amenities of the Denali, less the handful of Denali-exclusive item, like the grille, triple-sealed doors and embossed headrests, for a lower price.
