Few three-row crossovers are as distinctive as the Lincoln MKT. Majoring on style and presence, this luxury people mover delivers comfort many people demand in this segment, without the pretense of off-road ability that so few people actually use. The MKT is for those who want to make a statement of comfort over all else.
What's New for 2015
Other than some revisions to the exterior paint choices, there are no changes to the MKT.
Choosing Your Lincoln MKT
The MKT comes as a three-row crossover with seven seats -- or six if buyers choose an optional second-row package.
If you want front-wheel drive, the only way to get it is with the base engine, a 3.7-liter V6 making 305 horsepower and returning fuel economy of 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. Buyers who want all-wheel drive can only get it with an upgrade to the turbocharged 365-horsepower 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6 -- mileage takes a mild hit to 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The engine and drive type you choose determines your trim level:
Skip the base front-drive model because it's underpowered for a vehicle this size and doesn't significantly improve fuel economy. Plus, the Ecoboost is the only wayt to get safety features like blind-spot monitoring and convenience features your passengers might enjoy -- like the large glass moonroof. And with the strong Ecoboost engine, the MKT also makes for a rapid family hauler. Checking all of the options significantly raises the price, but incentives are strong.
