Mercedes-Benz has totally redesigned its hot-selling C-Class compact luxury sedan for 2015, with the new car growing in size and luxury with a design closely mimicking the brand’s flagship S-Class sedan. With the new 2014 CLA-Class now filling the entry-level spot in Benz’s lineup, there was room for the C-Class to grow, something designers have taken advantage of.
At least at launch, 4MATIC all-wheel-drive will come standard, mated to either a 241-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder in the C300 or a 329-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 in the C400. A 7-speed 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission will come standard.
As for high-tech features, the C-Class will get a trickle-down effect from larger sedan models, now receiving an available air suspension along with a head-up display. The German brand’s Intelligent Drive collection of active driving aids will also make an appearance on the smaller C.
The 2015 C-Class will go on sale in September of 2014, priced from around $36,000 for the C300 and $40,000 for the C400. Lesser-powered 4-cylinder and hi-po AMG variants will surely join the model range later, along with coupe and convertible versions.
