Hot on the heels of the recent new 2014 S-Class Sedan is Mercedes-Benz’s latest big, bruising luxury coupe, and with a shapely, flowing design the stuff of luxury car dreams, it’s the best looking car to come from the house of Benz in quite some time.
At launch time, Mercedes will sell the S-Class Coupe in one model variant, the S550 Coupe 4MATIC. That means 449 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque from a 4.7-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 as well as all-wheel-drive and a 7-speed automatic transmission.
In a neat nod to performance enthusiasts, the S-Class Coupe will debut Mercedes-Benz’s new “active curve tilting function”, which like a motorcycle “leans” the car’s body into upcoming turns to improve cornering response and stability. Other cool features include a Magic Sky Control roof that changes from clear to opaque at the driver’s request.
Pricing will surely far eclipse even the pricey S-Class Sedan, which starts at just under $100,000. A figure of around $140,000 for the Coupe is not out of the question when the big Benz goes on sale in Fall 2014.
