The Subaru WRX STI takes the WRX up a notch on the performance scale, bringing it even closer to its rallying roots. It's a track car that happens to incorporate similarities to a regular compact sedan, with four doors, seating for five and a modest trunk. But it still is an all-weather turbocharged monster when you poke it hard.
What's New for 2015
The WRX STI, along with the standard WRX, were redesigned for the 2015 model year. They gained new styling in and out, but the STI's engine stays the same. And all are sedans now, as the old hatchback body style was dropped.
Choosing Your Subaru WRX STi
The WRX STI comes with one powertrain, a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 305 horsepower mated to a six-speed manual transmission that sends power to all four wheels. Therefore, the choice is really limited to the base or Limited trims, which differ on equipment and some appearance details.
Make no mistake, this is a performance car, so don't go looking for much in the way of luxury in the Limited trim. It adds some niceties that make the WRX STi more livable every day, but not that nice to make its nearly $40,000 price tag worth it. Stuck with the base car.
