The 2016 edition of the BMW M6 Gran Coupe features a variety of minor changes that include a revised grille design and adaptive LED headlights as a standard part of the package.

A 4.4-liter V8 sends 552 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automated manual transmission. The sleek four-door is loaded with the expected standard features, but can be enhanced with option groups that address safety, comfort and performance:
- The Driver Assistance Plus Package features speed limit information, lane departure warning, side and top view cameras, and active blind spot detection. These additions are some of the most technologically advanced of their kind.
- The Executive Package creates a truly luxurious driving experience with features like front ventilated seats, heated rear seats and steering wheel, sunshades for side and rear windows, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.
- The Competition Package is for enthusiasts searching for speed. This upgrade boosts power by to a whopping 600 horsepower, while also re-tuning stability control and steering. The package also includes 20-inch wheels.

An M6 Gran Coupe doesn't really require any extras, but for buyers at this price point the Luxury Package makes sense, as does the value-packed $1,900 Driver Assistance Package. We'd skip the Competition Package unless you're likely to push your BMW to the very limit on a regular basis.
