Starting at $25,655 (which includes a destination charge of $975), this popular compact crossover SUV is known for its comfortable cabin, multiple standard safety features and 70-cubic feet of cargo space. Engine power and handling characteristics are not among class leaders, however, the Rogue’s upgradeable packages in premium trims make it a worthy consideration for commuters, small families or those who would like some extra storage space.
While the namesake suggests a rebellious attitude, the 2018 Nissan Rogue is rather tame. Starting at $25,655 (which includes a destination charge of $975), this popular compact crossover SUV has a comfortable cabin, multiple standard safety features, and 70 cubic feet of cargo space. The engine's power and its handling characteristics are not among class leaders, but the Rogue’s upgradeable packages and premium trims make it a worthy consideration for commuters, small families, or those who would like some extra storage space.
What's New for 2018
The addition of a semi-autonomous feature called ProPilot Assist leads the minor changes to the 2018 Nissan Rogue. Available in the SL Premium Package, this system is designed to brake, accelerate, and steer the vehicle during single-lane highway driving. Nissan has deleted third-row seating for 2018 – relax, it wasn't terribly useful to begin with – but takes care of all Rogue customers by adding Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an additional USB port, and blind spot monitoring on base trims and above.
Choosing Your Nissan Rogue
The 2018 Nissan Rogue is available in three trim levels – base S, SV, and SV. Each Rogue is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 170 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. A continuously variable transmission is standard on all trims, and consumers can opt for all-wheel drive for an additional $1,350. The EPA-estimated fuel economy for this powerplant is 26 miles per gallon city, and 33 mpg highway in front-wheel drive, and drops one mpg in each category with all-wheel drive, which is on par with competitors in this category.
For the money, the SV trim with the added premium package, and all-wheel drive is a smart buy for under $30,000. This package includes a surround-view camera, a navigation system, and the power liftgate. However, if towing capability is important, a larger SUV with a V6 engine should be considered.
