The next full redesign of the Ford Fusion is currently not expected until sometime in 2019 for the 2020 model year. At that time, industry sources believe it will move to a smaller platform. However, specific details have not yet been revealed.
Competition in the midsize sedan segment has been fierce, with strong offerings from the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, and Mazda Mazda6. In the meantime, Ford is planning a mid-cycle refresh with the 2017 Fusion, which is expected to feature an updated grille and headlights, as well as the automaker's latest SYNC 3 infotainment system.
