Originally seen as a conservative car maker, Audi began to change its image with the introduction of their “Quattro” four-wheel drive performance technology. With the intro of the Quattro they found great success in Rally Racing and became known as innovators in car technology.

Changes in the Audi Cars Line-Up
For 2009, the Audi A4 features updated styling similar to the 2008 Audi A5. The new A4 is lighter, thanks in part to its extensive use of lightweight steel and aluminum. The new 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine features 211 horsepower and excellent fuel economy. Additionally, a 265 horsepower 3.2 liter V6 will be offered to those who demand more instantaneous torque and acceleration. A 3.0 liter clean turbodiesel V6 will join the lineup in 2010 or 2011 which will make more torque and get better fuel economy.

Audi surpassed BMW in Germany for 2008 for the first time. In Oct 2008 Audi announced that it had sold 684,700 vehicles worldwide in the first nine months of this year, an increase of 8.4 percent compared with the same period of the previous year and the best nine months in the company's history.
