Model Preview
Audi is giving the Q5 a few updates for the 2024 model year. The compact SUV gains some extra features, the Black Optic package is now available on more trims, and SUVs with the 45 powertrain gain standard sport seats. The 2024 Audi Q5 belongs to the second generation of the SUV that was introduced in 2018.
The exterior design of the Audi Q5 doesn’t change for 2024. The compact SUV will be available in a regular SUV body style, as well as in a coupe-inspired Sportback model. Both have a restrained, yet elegant design. Slim headlights, a wide shield-shaped grille, and a narrow front air intake are on display at the front. The side profile of the Q5 features a distinguished body line that runs from the headlight to the taillight, while the sporty Sportback has a sloping rear roofline. At the back, the Q5 has oversized taillights, a chrome trim piece that sits just below the taillights, a rounded rear bumper, and clean lines.
On the inside, the 2024 Audi Q5 will continue to have the same design as the current SUV that’s on sale. The Q5 features a simple, but upscale design. The central touchscreen is positioned at the front of the dash and sits above a set of air vents. The dashboard has a thin row of controls for the HVAC system, while an additional row of controls for the vehicle is positioned at the bottom. An angled transmission tunnel makes the gear shifter easier to access for the drivers. Audi fits the Q5’s cabin with upscale materials that make the SUV feel like a luxury option.
Audi isn’t making any changes to the Q5’s list of tech features for 2024. The compact SUV will continue to come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10-speaker audio system, an HD radio, two USB ports, and Bluetooth. Available features include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a Wi-Fi hotspot, 19 audio speakers, a wireless charging pad, and navigation.
There are three available powertrains for the 2024 Audi Q5. The standard engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 201 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. The available 45 TFSI powertrain increases output to 261 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. These engines are paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and route power to all four wheels through an all-wheel-drive system. The 55 TFSI e is the Q5’s available plug-in hybrid powertrain. It combines the turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a 17.9-kWh battery pack for 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. The PHEV can travel up to 23 miles on a single charge.
The 2024 Audi Q5 now comes with active lane-keeping assist, hands-on detection, and capacitive grip detection as standard. Other standard safety features include parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane centering assist, and automatic high-beam assist. Available features include traffic sign recognition, hands-free park assist, and a surround-view parking camera.
