An international car show can be a great way to discover the latest models being produced from international car manufacturers. The cars on display may not be shown in the US because of the different standards, and some of the largest shows occur in Japan and Germany where they have major manufacturing companies. This is also a great way to learn about the latest automotive technology and see the cars of the future.
- Frankfurt Motor Show: The auto show in Frankfurt is the largest in the world. On odd numbered years, it shows passenger vehicles, and on even numbered years the show is in Hanover and shows commercial vehicles. Many car manufacturers introduce new models at the show, as well as concept cars which show where companies are looking to take their vehicles. The show in 2009 featured electrified cars and those vehicles with the newest batteries and zero emissions.
- Paris Auto Show: The Paris auto show occurs every two years at the Paris Expo. It originated in 1989. This show was the first to be held in the world and goes by the name Mondial de l'Automobile. In 2010 the show will occur over the first 2 weeks of October. More than six manufacturers are showing at the 2010 show and the main focus is in eco-mobility and low CO2 emissions. A special exhibit of vintage cars is on sale, many which are found in some of the best collections in the world.
- Geneva Auto Show: 2010 marked the 80th International Motor show held in Geneva. Almost 50% of the visitors and presenters live outside of Switzerland and pack the seven exhibition halls during the show. Most are very pleased with the different concepts for what will occur in the future for the transportation industry. The 2011 show will occur from 3 March to 13 March at the Geneva PalExpo.
- Tokyo Auto Show: The Tokyo motor show is held in November of each year and is organized by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association. Visitors are able to test drive the newest next generation vehicles, as more than 30 vehicles are available. There are special exhibits such as the Car of the Year exhibit. There are exhibits of memorable vehicle photos, stages for performances, symposium, the ability to test out the latest racing video games and much more.
- New York International Auto Show: This show is held during the first two weeks of April at the Jacob Javits Center. You can see some of the hottest vehicles introduced, including production models as well as concept cars. You can attend a private tour of the show, drive some of the latest models, view the classic cars on display, play game shows, enter many contests, check out the latest in no emission vehicles and much more. This is also an important trade event as there are symposiums, seminars and conferences for all aspects of the auto industry. The technology competition is always interesting.
