At this week's Chicago Auto Show, Toyota introduced its TRD Pro lineup for the 2019 model year, which adds off-road performance to its 4Runner, Tacoma, and Tundra. Each Pro Line model receives 2.5-inch Fox internal bypass shocks tuned by Toyota's TRD performance division. Individually, each model receives unique modifications and TRD touches.
The 2019 4Runner TRD Pro receives several updates including a new roof rack and JBL sound system. A front skid plate with red “TRD” letter, and 17-inch matte black wheels wrapped in Nitto Terra Grappler tires complete the SUV's exterior upgrades. A 270-horsepower, 4.0-liter V6 powers the 4Runner.
For the Tacoma TRD Pro, Toyota also attached the JBL sound system and skid plate with red “TRD” lettering. A dark chrome tip accents the cat-back exhaust. A first for the Tacoma TRD for 2019 is a snorkel that feeds air to the engine, which is the standard 3.5-liter V6 making 279 hp.
Toyota adds several features to the Tundra TRD Pro line for 2019. Upgrades include a revised hood design with a scoop and grille. LED headlights and fog lights are also standard. Michelin all-terrain tires wrap around 18-inch forged aluminum. The wheels save 3.35 pounds of unsprung mass. Toyota stamps TRD Pro on the truck bed's rear quarter panels. A 381-hp, 5.7-liter V8 powers the Tundra.
The entire 2019 TRD Pro lineup goes on sales this fall with three color choices available: Super White, Midnight Black Metallic, or the TRD Pro-exclusive Voodoo Blue.
