The less powerful of BMW's entry-level 1 Series models, the 128 is available in coupe and convertible variants. The rear-wheel drive subcompact has been in on sale in Europe since 2004—where it is also built as a hatchback—but didn't reach U.S. showrooms until 2008.
It's not as fast as the turbocharged 135, but with a naturally-aspirated 230-horsepower six-cylinder, the 128 is still quick and fun to drive. Standard equipment includes: 17-inch wheels, automatic headlights, fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control and a 10-speaker sound system.
